November 27 (SeeNews) - China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) plans to complete the construction of Moracica bridge, part of the Bar-Boljare motorway in Montenegro by the end of 2020, chief supervising engineer Milivoje Kasalica said.
"If weather supports us, I think we could finish the Moracica bridge by the New Year. Some small things will remain to be done, like decorative lighting and beautification," Kasalica said in a video file posted on the website of Montenegrin public broadcaster RTCG on Thursday.
The construction of the bridge was delayed because the Chinese contractor had problems with the return of workers to Montenegro, due to the coronavirus crisis in Europe, Kasalica added.
In October 2019, Montenegrin prime minister Dusko Markovic said the deadline for the completion of the bridge is March 2020.
A total of 1,500 workers are currently engaged in the construction of the motorway's section from Podgorica to Matesevo which is expected to be completed by the middle of 2021, RTCG reported.
The Bar-Boljare motorway is part of pan-European Corridor XI, a ferry/motorway corridor linking Italy's Bari to Romania's Bucharest via Montenegro's Bar port and Serbia's Belgrade.
