April 15 (SeeNews) - China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) plans to complete the construction of the first section of the Bar-Boljare motorway in Montenegro by the middle of 2020, executive chairman Liu Qitao has said.
CCCC successfully works around the world and has the capacity to work on several other projects in Montenegro, Qitao said on Friday during a meeting with Montenegrin prime minister Dusko Markovic, according to a Montenegrin government statement.
"The motorway connects the country from within and encourages the development of all sectors of the economy. Also, at this stage, we have indirect investments in agriculture, tourism and other areas," Markovic said at the meeting held in the framework of the 9th Summit of Central and Eastern European Countries and China in Croatia's Dubrovnik.
The Smokovac-Matesevo motorway section is 41 km long and involves the construction of a total of 18 tunnels, 13 bridges, five viaducts and four interchanges. The project is carried out by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), a subsidiary of CCCC.
The Bar-Boljare motorway is part of pan-European Corridor XI, a ferry/motorway corridor linking Italy's Bari to Romania's Bucharest via Montenegro's Bar port and Serbia's Belgrade.
