June 6 (SeeNews) - Belgrade city government has said it plans to issue a building permit to a Chinese investor on Tuesday for the construction of a cultural centre of the Asian country.
The Chinese investor has already paid the 417 million dinars ($3.8 million/3.4 million euro) construction fee to the Belgrade authorities, the local government said in a statement on Monday.
The permit will be issued for a building with a floor area of 5,463 sq m and an underground parking lot of 8,888 sq m for 218 cars, city manager Goran Vesic said.
The Belgrade cultural centre will be China's largest one in Europe, Vesic noted.
In the first five months of 2017, Belgrade city authorities had issued permits for the construction of buildings with a total area of 524,000 sq m, versus 630,000 sq m for the entire 2016, he added.
Last month, Serbia's infrastructure ministry said it signed in Beijing two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for infrastructure works with a combined value of 2.5 billion euro.
