June 7 (SeeNews) - Shares of industrial group Chimimport [BUL:6C4] generated half of the trading turnover on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange in Sofia on Wednesday for a second straight day, bourse data indicated.
Total trading turnover rose to 4 million levs ($2.3 million/2.04 million euro) on Wednesday, from 3.4 million levs on Tuesday. Trading in Chimimport shares contributed 2 million levs of turnover, or 50% of the total regulated market turnover. On Tuesday, Chimimport generated 1.7 million levs of trading turnover, or half of the day's total.
The blue-chip SOFIX index rose by 0.78% to 681.10 points, after adding 0.30% on Tuesday.
Resort operator Albena [BUL:6AB] led the list of blue-chip gainers on Wednesday, closing 4.49% higher at 67.500 levs in a trading volume of 8,737 units.
Diversified group Industrial Capital Holding [BUL:4I8] led the blue-chip decliners on Wednesday, falling 2.25% to 4.300 levs, as 300 of the company shares changed hands.
Earlier on Wednesday, Bulgarian drug producer Sopharma [BUL:3JR] said its shareholders have approved a proposal to merge local peer Medica [BUL:5MA] into the company. Sopharma shares closed 0.19% higher at 4.310 levs as 53,535 units changed hands.
The broader BGBX40 index, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the BSE, added 0.39% to 132.75 points, following an increase of 0.04% on Tuesday.
The BG-REIT index, which tracks the performance of real estate investment trusts, edged up 0.01% to 110.15 points on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the index fell by 0.37%.
The BG TotalReturn30 index, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, added 0.11% to 518.20 points, after closing 0.50% lower on Tuesday.
