SOFIA (Bulgaria), June 13 (SeeNews) -  CEZ Distribution Bulgaria [BUL:3CZ], a subsidiary of Czech power utility CEZ Group, said on Thursday that it has invested 2.9 million levs ($1.7 million/1.5 million euro) in the Montana region in northwestern Bulgaria.

A large part of the funds were invested in the automatisation of power lines which makes possible the timely detection of power breakdowns, CEZ Distribution said in a press release.

Some 900,000 levs were used for the reconstruction and modernisation of low-voltage power lines, while 436,000 levs were invested in the improvement of the electricity supply network in Damyanovo, Tchiprovtsi and Varshets.

In 2019, the company plans to invest in improving the quality of the power grid through reconstruction, repairs and hydro insulation of electric installations as well as in increasing the security of the electricity supply network in several cities and villages in the region.
