September 10 (SeeNews) - Mid Europa Partners, a private equity investor focused on Central and Eastern Europe, said that it has opened an office in Bucharest, further deepening its presence in Romania.
Operations in Romania will be led by Berke Biricik who joined the company in 2013, Mid Europa said in a press release on Monday.
"Having been involved in our investments in Profi and Urgent Cargus, I look forward to coordinating the monitoring and origination activities in Romania from our new Bucharest office," Biricik said.
Established in 1999, Mid Europa also has offices in Budapest, Istanbul, London and Warsaw.
"The opening of the Bucharest office represents a natural progression of our commitment to Romania, following our increased activity in response to the long-term re-rating of the investment climate in Romania. Since 2015, we have invested nearly 0.5 billion euro ($0.55 billion) into Profi, the leading Romanian proximity supermarket chain, Regina Maria, a leading premium integrated private healthcare services operator, and most recently, Urgent Cargus, a leading courier, express and parcel service provider," Mid Europa co-managing partner Matthew Strassberg said.
Mid Europa is a leading buyout investor, focused on the growth markets of Central and Eastern Europe with approximately 5.2 billion euro of funds raised and managed since inception.
