February 1 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's government said it has signed a 30 million euro ($37.3 million) deal with Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) for the delivery of three medium-sized multi-purpose helicopters to the defence ministry.
Under the terms of the agreement, CCC will deliver two Bell 412EPI helicopters and one Bell 412EP helicopter, the Montenegrin government said in a statement earlier this week.
"Montenegro wants to improve the capabilities of its armed forces and the purchase of three multi-purpose helicopters will significantly increase the capacities of its Air Force, but also other aspects of the army, as the helicopters will be used to support land and sea activities, transport units, search and rescue, medical evacuation, border control," Montenegro's defence minister Predrag Boskovic said in the statement.
All three helicopters will be delivered this year - one in the first quarter, and the remaining two in the fourth quarter.
"We know that Canada and Montenegro have excellent relations in all areas of cooperation, and this is a concrete example of the growing economic ties between the two countries. We are particularly proud of the fact that our helicopters will contribute to the safety of Montenegro," the CEO and president of CCC, Martin Zablocki, noted.
CCC is a Canadian government corporation that supports trade by helping local exporters access foreign government procurement markets through government-to-government contracting.
The Bell 412EPI and Bell 412EP models are produced by US-based manufacturer Bell Helicopter at its factory in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada.
