June 13 (SeeNews) - Canada-based Vermilion will start drilling for oil and gas in Croatia's eastern region of Slavonija on June 17, the Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency (CHA) said.
The location of Vermilion's first drilling well, Ceric-1, in the Vukovar-Srijem county, has been identified based on initial reading of available geological data for potential oil and gas reserves, CHA said in a statement on Wednesday.
The drilling of the well will take some 30 days after which the first results will be available, the statement said.
Vermilion plans to simultaneously launch drilling at another well, Berak-1, located in the same region, searching for potential natural gas deposits.
The drilling of the two wells is part of Vermilion's working programme, which the company has pledged to carry out under its exploration and exploitation agreement signed with the Croatian government in June 2016.
