January 22 (SeeNews) - Solaris Bus & Coach, a unit of Spain's Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF), said on Friday it won a 63 million lei ($15.6 million/ 12.9 million euro) tender for a contract to deliver 25 trolleybuses to the central Romanian city of Brasov over the next twelve months.
This will be the second delivery of Solaris trolleybuses to Brasov, the company said in a press release.
The Trollino 18 type Solaris trolleybuses are equipped with a 240 kW traction electric motor, Medcom propulsion and automatic retractors. The vehicles can carry up to 133 passengers and will have a five-year warranty period.
In July, Solaris delivered 26 trolleybuses to Brasov municipality.
In mid-December, Solaris said that it has won a 17.5 million lei tender for a contract to deliver ten hybrid buses to Romanian municipality of Reghin by the end of March 2022.
In November, Solaris said that throughout 2021 it would deliver 16 electric buses to the city of Craiova, twenty trolleybuses to Ploiesti, six hybrid buses to Satu Mare, three trolleybuses to Medias and twenty hybrid buses to Galati.
CAF is a manufacturer of rolling stock and railway equipment listed on the Spanish stock market. The company is headquartered in Beasain, in the Basque Autonomous Community, and has factories in Spain, France, the UK, Brazil, Mexico and the U.S.
