July 5 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian telecommunications company Bulsatcom said on Wednesday its geostationary communications satellite, BulgariaSat-1, had reached the Bulgarian orbital position on July 3.
“If everything goes according to plan, BulgariaSat-1 will be ready to broadcast at the beginning of August,” Maxim Zayakov, CEO of Bulsatcom and its affiliate BulgariaSat, said in a statement.
The final procedure before Bulgaria’s first geostationary communications satellite becomes operational – the system tests – began on July 3, according to the statement.
The satellite is expected to have a life span of 20 years.
On June 23, BulgariaSat-1 was taken into space from Cape Canaveral aboard a space-proven Falcon 9 rocket provided by SpaceX.
