December 11 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s electricity production rose by an annual 1.98% to 43,169 GWh in the January 1 - December 9 period, according to data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO).
Power consumption fell 3.47% on the year to 35,820 GWh in the period under review, ESO data shows.
Electricity exports increased 40.70% year-on-year to 7,349 GWh. Last year, Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission system fell 7.34% on the year to 1,135 GWh in the January 1 – December 9 period, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system decreased by 10.07% year-on-year to 1,566 GWh.
