May 15 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s electricity production went down by 20.21% year-on-year to 16,384 GWh from January 1 to May 14, the Electricity System Operator (ESO) said on Monday.
Domestic power consumption in the country declined by an annual 4.98% to 14,852 GWh, ESO said in its latest weekly newsletter.
Bulgaria's power trade surplus slumped by 68.75% on the year to 1,532 GWh in the review period.
At the same time, the volume of renewable energy in the transmission network leapt by 18.95%, reaching 719.3 GWh, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system slipped by 2.76% to 836.7 GWh.
The output of hydropower plants fell by 30.37% to some 1,141 GWh in annual terms, data showed.
