August 7 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s electricity production decreased by an annual 1.74% to 26,534 GWh in the January 1 - August 5 period, according to data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO).
Electricity consumption fell 5.20% on the year to 22,732 GWh, data published on the ESO website shows.
Power exports rose by 25.68% year-on-year to 3,802 GWh in the period under review.
Last year, Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission system fell 4.73% on the year to 733 GWh in the January 1 – August 5 period, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system decreased by 12.10% year-on-year to 1,002 GWh.
