August 14 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s electricity production decreased by an annual 1.63% to 27,446 GWh in the January 1 - August 12 period, according to data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO).
Electricity consumption fell 5.28% on the year to 23,396 GWh, data published on the ESO website shows.
Power exports rose by 26.56% year-on-year to 4,051 GWh in the period under review.
Last year, Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission system fell 5.11% on the year to 755 GWh in the January 1 – August 12 period, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system decreased by 12.08% year-on-year to 1,037 GWh.
