September 19 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s electricity production edged down by an annual 0.52% to 31,908 GWh in the January 1 - September 16 period, while power consumption fell 4.66% on the year to 26,711 GWh, according to data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO).
Power exports rose by 28.05% year-on-year to 5,197 GWh in the period under review, ESO data shows.
Last year, Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission system fell 6.10% on the year to 873 GWh in the January 1 – September 16 period, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system decreased by 12.68% year-on-year to 1,210 GWh.
