May 29 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s electricity production fell by an annual 20.97% to 17,500 GWh from January 1 to May 28, the Electricity System Operator (ESO) said on Monday.
Domestic power consumption slipped by 4.96% year-on-year to 16,033 GWh in the review period, ESO said in its latest weekly newsletter.
Bulgaria's power trade surplus plunged by 72.18% on the year to 1,468 GWh.
In contrast, the volume of renewable energy in the transmission network grew by 21.7%, reaching 808.6 GWh, whereas the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system went down by 2.9% to 926.5 GWh.
The output of hydropower plants dropped by 26.95% to 1,326 GWh in annual terms.
