May 29 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s electricity production decreased by an annual 4.58% to 18,022 GWh in the January 1 - May 27 period, according to data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO).
Electricity consumption fell 6.42% on the year to 16,173 GWh, data published on the ESO website shows.
Power exports rose by 15.34% year-on-year to 1,849 GWh in the period under review.
Last year, Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission system edged down 0.09% on the year to 522 GWh in the January 1 – May 27 period, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system decreased by 10.20% year-on-year to 669 GWh.
