August 23 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s power output rose by 3.66% year-on-year to 28,867 GWh in the period January 1 – August 20, data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) showed.
Electricity consumption increased by 6.21% on the year to 25,456 GWh during the review period, according to figures published on the ESO website.
Power exports fell 12.10% year-on-year to 3,411 GWh in the review period. Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.
Renewable energy in the transmission system increased by 11.72% on the year to 840,164 MWh in the period January 1 – August 20, while renewable energy in the distribution system rose by 4.0% to 1,237,797 MWh.
