June 20 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s power output rose by an annual 4.71% to 21,250 GWh in the January 1 – June 18 period, according to data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO).
Electricity consumption increased by 7.33% on the year to 19,310 GWh during the review period, data published on the ESO website shows.
Power exports fell 15.73% year-on-year to 1,940 GWh in the period under review. Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.
Renewable energy in the transmission system increased by 7.33% on the year to 593,347 MWh in the January 1 – June 18 period, while renewable energy in the distribution system rose by 2.29% to 858,889 MWh.
