March 15 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's youth unemployment rate (age bracket 15-24 years) decreased by 4.3 percentage points to 12.9% in 2017, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Thursday.
The unemployment rate in the 15-29 years bracket fell by 2.3 pp to 9.9% last year, the NSI said in a statement.
Bulgaria's unemployment rate was 6.2% in 2017, 1.4 pp lower compared to 2016.
Long-term unemployment (people who have been without a job for more than a year) was 3.4% last year. There were a total of 113,800 discouraged people, or 55% of the total number of jobless people.
There were a total of 3.28 million economically active people in the 15-64 years age bracket in Bulgaria in 2017.
