November 29 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria has sown 963,351 hectares with winter wheat by November 17, 5.7% less that the area sown by the same date last year, the agriculture ministry said on Tuesday.
The pace of barley sowing was 24% behind compared with last year, with 118,292.3 ha put to barley as of the reporting date, according to data posted on the agriculture ministry's website.

Bulgarian wheat exports through the Black Sea port of Varna rose to 1 million tonnes in the period July 4 - November 20, up 25.8% year-on-year, the ministry said. Barley exports through the port plunged by 93.4% in the same period to 6,035 tonnes.
Bulgaria harvested 5.6 million tonnes of wheat in 2016, the largest amount since 1980, the agriculture ministry said in August. The average yield was 4.94 tonnes per hectare.
