March 17 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria’s unemployment rate decreased by 1.0 percentage point on the year to 4.3% in 2022, the statistical office said on Friday.
Youth unemployment, in the age range of between 15 years and 29 years, was 7.9% last year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in an annual labour force survey.
The long-term unemployment rate, covering people who have been without a job for more than a year, was 2.3%. The long-term unemployed represented 53.8% of all unemployed persons, the NSI said.
The employment rate among people aged 15 years to 64 years increased by 2.3 percentage points on the year, reaching 70.4% in 2022. The number of employed persons was about 3.05 million. The percentage of economically active people in the same age group rose by 1.6 percentage points to 73.6%, corresponding to about 3.19 million people.
In 2022, there were 1.15 million economically inactive people aged between 15 years and 64 years, corresponding to an inactivity rate of 26.4%.
