August 16 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's state-owned coal-fired thermal power plant (TPP) Maritsa Iztok 2 said that it has opened a 58.5 million levs ($33.1 million/29.9 million euro) tender for the supply of limestone.
The call envisages the supply of 2.2 million tonnes of limestone, to be used in the power plant's flue gas desulphurisation unit, TPP Maritsa 2 said in a tender notice on Thursday.
Coal-fired power plants use alkaline sorbents such as limestone to remove sulphur dioxide from their flue gases.
Maritsa Iztok 2 has eight operating units with a total installed capacity of 1,620 MW.
