September 17 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian state-owned thermal power plant (TPP) Maritsa Iztok 2 said on Monday that it has opened a 46 million levs ($27.5 million/23.5 million euro) tender for repair works related to planned maintenance, as well as emergency repairs.
The term of the contract will be four years, TPP Maritsa Iztok 2 said in a notice.
The contractor must begin works within ten days since receiving notification for planned maintenance and within three days when it comes to emergency repairs.
All repairs will have a one-year warranty.
Last week, Bulgaria's energy ministry said that it has formed a working group tasked with analysing the financial situation of TPP Maritsa Iztok 2 and coming up with measures for its stabilisation.
"The significant increase in expenses for buying emission allowances in the past months is a serious challenge to TPP Maritsa Iztok 2 and the Bulgarian Energy Holding," the energy ministry said in a statement at the time.
The working group is expected to come up with its proposals by the end of September.
Maritsa Iztok 2 has eight operating units with a total installed capacity of 1,620 MW.
