September 2 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's state-owned thermal power plant (TPP) Maritsa Iztok 2 said that it has extended the term of its insurance contract with local Bulstrad - Vienna Insurance Group by one year, doubling its value to 16 million levs ($9.7 million/8.2 million euro).
The insurance contract covers fire and natural disasters, TPP Maritsa Iztok 2 said in a notice to the public procurement agency, published earlier this week.
The deal was initially signed in August 2019 for a nine-month period, and subsequently extended by three months in May 2020.
In June 2019, TPP Maritsa Iztok 2's Unit 8 suffered damages from a fire.
The power plant has eight operating units with a total installed capacity of 1,620 MW.
