September 12 (SeeNews) - Total revenue from tourist overnights in Bulgaria rose by 17.6% in July, reaching 454.5 million levs ($249.1 million/232.4 million euro), the statistical office said on Tuesday.
Revenue generated from foreign visitors went up by 19.5% on the year to 317.85 million levs, while domestic tourists accounted for a 13.2% annual rise in revenue to some 136.7 million levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly report.
The total number of tourist overnights increased by 8.1% on the year to roughly 5.82 million in July. Overnights spent by foreign citizens amounted to some 3.66 million.
In July, the total number of tourists who stayed in accommodation establishments in Bulgaria went up 9% on the same month last year, to over 1.44 million. Out of those, 766,349 were foreign visitors, or 13% more than a year ago. At the same time, the number of domestic tourists climbed by 4.8% year-on-year to 675,000, the NSI said.
