May 11 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's revenue from tourist overnights surged by 53.1% on the year to 79.6 million levs ($44.6 million/40.7 million euro) in March, the statistical office said on Thursday.
Revenue from domestic tourists grew by an annual 58.1% to 46.8 million levs, while foreign visitors generated 46.4% higher revenue, or 32.8 million levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The total number of tourist overnights rose by 29% year-on-year to 1.03 million in the review month. Overnights spent by foreign citizens numbered 353,761.
In March, the total number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria leapt by an annual 31.9%, reaching 453,106. Of them, 126,010 were foreign visitors, up 33.7% on the year, whereas Bulgarian residents added 31.2% to 327,096, the NSI said.
