October 10 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian drug maker Sopharma [BUL:3JR] said it had filed for a regulatory approval to acquire an unnamed drug wholesaler in Moldova.
"As a result of its intention to express interest in acquiring a commercial company operating on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, as a first step Sopharma AD filed a request for approval of concentration with the competent authorities in the Republic of Moldova," the drug manufacturer said in a statement on its website on Friday.

The name of the targeted Moldovan company was not disclosed in the document.
According to Sopharma board chairman Ognyan Donev, quoted by local daily Capital, the Moldovan regulator is expected to announce its decision within a 10-day period.
Donev also announced that the company had registered a drug on the markets of Sweden, Czechia and Slovakia, and plans to expand the presence of its portfolio in those countries as well as in other European markets.
Last week, Sopharma [BUL:3JR] has offered to buy 16.79% of drug producer Veta Pharma for 1.6 million levs ($915,580/818,070 euro).
Sopharma [BUL:3JR] shares were trading 0.93% higher at 2.948 levs as of 11:40 CET on Monday.
