SOFIA (Bulgaria), October 27 (SeeNews) – The British Ministry of Defence (MoD) contracted Bulgarian start-up Small Foot as supplier of 350 pairs of the company’s innovative snowshoes, the Sofia-based company told SeeNews on Thursday.

Small Foot has been working towards this deal since 2014 when it sent samples of its products to a British expert and a year later the British government bought 25 pairs for further testing, it told SeeNews in an email.

Its next big goal is to get its product included in the British army’s survival kit.

The company has already obtained a Eurasian patent, as well as patents for China and the United States.

In 2015 Small Foot doubled its annual sales from 119,000 levs ($66,600/61,000 euro) a year earlier.

The company is currently working on a new product – Mud Shoes - which it has sent to mountain rescue agencies worldwide for testing and the feedback so far has been encouraging.
