SOFIA (Bulgaria), December 17 (SeeNews) – The Bulgarian municipality of Ruse has taken over the local airport and will resume its operations, the government said in a statement on Wednesday.
The municipality of Ruse has taken full control over the airport after it acquired the state's stake in it, the government said in a statement after a regular meeting.
The state has transferred the ownership of a land property in Shtraklevo village and its stake in the airport to Ruse municipality.
The airport is strategically located for Ruse as it provides possibilities for cargo shipment through a combination of railway, road, water, and air transportation.
The airport has been closed since 2000 because no investors wanted to become its concessionaire.
Ruse is on the Danubian bank in northeastern Bulgaria.
