October 12 (SeeNews) - Total revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria in August rose 80% on the year to 357.2 million levs ($211.2 million/182.6 million euro), the statistical office said on Tuesday.
The revenue from overnights spent by foreign nationals amounted to 235.8 million levs in August, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The total number of tourist overnights spent in the country in the month under review was nearly 5.4 million, marking a 51.2% increase on an annual comparison basis. Over 3 million overnights were spent by foreign tourists, the NSI added.
In August, four and five-star accommodation facilities served 40% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists and 75% of the overnights of international visitors.
The number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in the month under review reached 1.32 million, up 40% compared to a year earlier.
