November 10 (SeeNews) - Total revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria in September rose 35.1% on the year to 119.1 million levs ($70.5 million/60.9 million euro), the statistical office said on Wednesday.
The revenue from overnights spent by foreign nationals amounted to 70.1 million levs in September, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The total number of tourist overnights spent in the country in the month under review was just over 2 million, marking a 13.2% increase on an annual comparison basis. Over 1 million overnights were spent by foreign tourists.
In September, four and five-star accommodation facilities served 42.7% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists and 80.6% of the overnights of international visitors.
The number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in September reached 620,000, up 4.5% compared to a year earlier.
