March 10 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's revenue from tourist overnights surged by 60.1% year-on-year to 77.6 million levs ($41.87 million/39.68 million euro) in January, the statistical office said on Friday.
Revenue from foreign visitors increased by an annual 67.5% to 37.2 million levs in January, while domestic tourists generated 53.8% higher revenue, or 40.4 million levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The total number of tourist overnights grew by 47.1% on the year to 1.03 million in January. Overnights spent by foreign citizens numbered 435,808.
In January, the total number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria jumped by 50.6% on the year to reach 439,470. Of them, 142,755 were foreign visitors, up 81% in annual terms, whereas Bulgarian residents rose by 39.3% to 296,715, the NSI said.
