February 24 (SeeNews) - Total revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria increased 18.5% in 2016, reaching to 1.22 billion levs ($659,611 levs/623,327 euro), the statistical office said on Friday.
Revenues from overnights spent by foreign nationals grew 22.5% in 2016, while revenues from Bulgarian tourists increased 8.7%, according to the National Statistical Institute (NSI) data.
The number of tourist overnights in Bulgaria increased by 17.7% in 2016, reaching 25.18 million. Foreign tourist overnights rose by 21% last year to 16.15 million while overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists added 12.2% to 9.03 million for the same period.
In 2016, a total of 7.2 million tourists stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria, 47% of them being foreign nationals.
