March 13 (SeeNews) - Total revenues from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria increased 5.5% year-on-year in January, reaching 41.6 million levs ($22.7 million/21.3 million euro), the national statistical office said on Monday.
Revenues from overnights spent by foreign nationals grew 8.8% on the year in January, while revenues from Bulgarian tourists increased 1.4%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The number of tourist overnights in Bulgaria fell 1.2% on the year to 802,000 in January.
The largest decrease in the number of overnights, by 3.9%, was registered by one- and two-star hotels. Four and five-star hotels serviced 71.1% of the total number of overnights of international visitors and 36.1% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists.
In January, a total of 334,600 tourists stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria, 38.3% of them being foreign nationals.
