December 12 (SeeNews) - Total revenues from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria increased 23.5% year-on-year in October to 44.4 million levs ($24.1 million/22.7 million euro), the statistics office said on Monday.
Revenues from overnights spent by foreign nationals grew 29% on the year in October, while revenues from Bulgarian tourists increased 18%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The number of tourist overnights in Bulgaria increased by 21% on the year in October, reaching 881,800.
The largest increase in overnights, by 27%, was registered by four- and five-star hotels. Four and five-star hotels serviced 71% of the total number of overnights by foreign tourists and 34% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists.
In October, a total of 440,000 tourists stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria, 35% of them being foreign nationals.
