March 11 (SeeNews) - Revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria rose by 19% year-on-year to 60.8 million levs ($35.2 million/31.1 million euro) in January, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Revenues from overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists increased by 21.7% on the year in January, while revenues from overnights of foreign nationals rose by 17%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The total number of tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria rose by 19.8% to 1.07 million.
The largest increase in the number of overnights, by 22.5%, was registered by four-star and five-star hotels which serviced 39.5% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists and 74.3% of the overnights of international visitors.
A total of 439,900 tourists stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in January, up by 14.9% year-on-year.
