October 12 (SeeNews) - Total revenues from tourist overnights in Bulgaria increased 15.2% year-on-year in August, reaching 298.9 million levs ($168.6 million/153.0 million euro), the statistics office said on Wednesday.
Revenues from overnights spent by foreign nationals grew 17.7% on the year in August, while revenues from Bulgarian tourists increased 5.9%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The number of tourist overnights in Bulgaria increased by 13.1% on the year in August, reaching 5.8 million.
The largest increase in overnights, by 14.5%, was registered by one- and two-star rated hotels.
Four and five-star hotels serviced 62% of the total number of overnights by foreign tourists and 24.8% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists.
In August, a total of 1.2 million tourists stayed in accommodation places in Bulgaria, with 60% of them being foreign nationals.
