July 10 (SeeNews) - The revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria in May decreased by 2.6% on the year to 76.2 million levs ($43.7 million/39.0 million euro), the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
Revenues from overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists increased by 15.5% year-on-year in May, while revenues from overnights of foreign nationals fell by 9.9%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The total number of tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria decreased by 7.8% to 1.4 million in May.
The largest decrease in the number of overnights, by 11.5%, was registered by four- and five-star hotels which reported 37.1% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists and 78.1% of the overnights of international visitors.
A total of 586,600 tourists stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in May, up 0.8% year-on-year.
