November 15 (SeeNews) - The average expenditure per household member in Bulgaria increased by an annual 9.8% in the third quarter of the year, while the average income per household member rose 7.7% during the review period, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Thursday.
Household members spent an average of 1,518 levs ($878.5/776.1 euro) during the third quarter of 2018, while their income amounted to 1,541 levs in the same period, NSI said in a statement.
Expenses for food accounted for 30.1% of the total household expenditure, while expenditure on housing contributed a further 16.5%.
Taxes and social insurance contributions constituted 12.3% of the total expenditure, followed by transport and communication with 11.7%.
Wages and salaries formed 55.2% of the total household income, followed by pensions and self-employment income with 27.3% and 7.7%, respectively.
