SOFIA (Bulgaria), May 23 (SeeNews) - The turnover indices in the services sector in Bulgaria, covering logistics, information and communication, and other business services, rose on an annual comparison basis in the first quarter of 2019, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Thursday.
Information and communication services increased 15.2% year-on-year in the first quarter, NSI said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
Within the information and communication services segment, information technology activities posted the highest annual growth in turnover, of 20.6%, while publishing was the top decliner, falling by 13.9%.
Transportation, storage and post services recorded a 10.6% annual increase in turnover in the January-March period.
Among the activities in the segment, the turnover index in storage and processing of cargo rose the most - 16.9%. Air transport services recorded an annual increase of 9.9%, while land transport added 9.5%.
Among other business services, the turnover index in administrative office services rose by 33.9%, followed by accounting and management consultancy activities at 27%. Employment activities fell the most in the segment, by 4.5% on the year during the first quarter.
