May 15 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's producer price index (PPI) in agriculture edged up by 0.9% on the year in the first quarter of 2023 on the back of a 36.8% rise in animal output prices, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
In January-March, live animal prices leapt 36.7% year-on-year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement. The prices of animal products grew by 36.9% due to an increase in hen eggs and cow milk prices, at 71.7% and 23.7%, respectively.

Crop output prices fell by an annual 8.6% in the review period, with prices of grain crops adding 2.1% and industrial crop prices dropping by 22.9% as a result of a 25.2% decrease in sunflower prices. Among grain crops, prices of soft wheat slipped by 0.9%.
The index of prices of goods and services in agriculture in the first quarter of this year was 5.6% higher than in the like period of 2022, the NSI said.
