November 22 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Power Distribution North, a unit of Czech power utility Energo-Pro, said on Thursday that it has invested 2.3 million levs ($1.3 million/1.2 million euro) in power grid upgrades in the Shumen province, in northeastern Bulgaria, so far this year.
The company intends to invest a further 630,000 levs in reconstruction and maintenance of the local power grid, Power Distribution North said in a statement.
On Monday, Power Distribution North said that it has opened an 8.9 million levs tender for supply of power meters.
Earlier this year, the company was renamed to Power Distribution North from Energo-Pro Grid in order to meet national and European legal requirements, which provide for clear differentiation between the identities of the different units of power groups within a country.
Power Distribution North operates power lines with a total length of some 42,000 km over a territory of nearly 30,000 sq m in northeastern Bulgaria.
