June 20 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's Plovdiv municipality said that it has started the construction of a composting installation for sorted green and/or biodegradable waste - a project worth 9 million levs ($5.2 million/4.6 million euro).
The municipality will invest close to three million levs in the project which should be completed next year, the Plovdiv municipal council said in a statement on Tuesday.
The project benefits from 5.2 millions levs grant financing from EU's Regional Development Fund as well as 910,580 levs in non-refundable financing from the central government budget
The cost of construction works assigned to local Gert Group is 4 million levs, the municipality said earlier this year. The facility is expected to produce of about 6,750 tons of compost per year.
