November 10 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's sole nuclear power plant (NPP) Kozloduy said its Unit 6 was reconnected to the grid on Thursday following the completion of a planned annual overhaul.
During the shutdown the 1000 MW unit was recharged with fresh nuclear fuel. Planned works, which are part of the extension of the unit's operational lifespan, were also carried out alongside works for increasing its thermal capacity to 104%, the power plant said in a press release..
Unit 6 was shut down for scheduled maintenance on October 1.
The power plant also said its other 1000 MW unit, Unit 5, operates at 100% of its capacity,
In 2007, Bulgaria closed Kozloduy's Units 1 to 4 of 440 MW each to fulfil conditions for joining the European Union. The closure left Kozloduy operating Units 5 and 6.
