May 31 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's sole nuclear power plant (NPP) Kozloduy said that its net profit rose to 137.7 million levs () in the first quarter of 2021 from 126.3 million levs in the same period of 2020, backed by higher electricity prices.
NPP Kozloduy's revenue from electricity sales grew by an annual 9.1% to 382.3 million levs, despite a 3.2% decrease in the volume of electricity sold, to 4,342,879 MWh, figures from the company's interim financial statement show.
Slightly over 1 million MWh were sold under regulated prices for a total of 56 million levs, while some 3.3 million MWh were sold on the free market for 326 million levs.
The power plant's output fell by an annual 3.5% to 4,537,681 MWh in the January-March period of 2021.
The company's operating expenses rose by an annual 7.8% to 233 million levs in the first quarter.
NPP Kozloduy has two operational units - 5 and 6, of 1,000 MW each.
