January 25 (SeeNews) - Loans to Bulgaria's non-government sector increased by 12.7% on the year to 80.2 billion levs ($44.5 billion/41 billion euro) in December, following an annual rise of 13.5% in November, the central bank said on Wednesday.
The value of non-government loans at the end of December was equivalent to 51.9% of Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP) forecast for 2022, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
Loans to non-financial corporations climbed by 10.4% annually to 41.2 billion levs after showing year-on-year growth of 11.1% in November.
In parallel, loans granted to financial corporations went up by 19.7% on the year, reaching 5.95 billion levs at the end of December. Thus, year-on-year growth speeded up from 19.2% in November.
Household loans reached 33.1 billion levs at the end of December, rising by 14.6% in annual terms after annual growth of 15.5% in November. The December value was equivalent to 21.4% of the GDP planned for 2022.
According to the data, consumer loans advanced by 12.4% year-on year to 15 billion levs, with growth slowing from 14.1% in November.
