November 30 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian telecommunication company Mobiltel, a unit of Telekom Austria Group, said on Thursday it is launching 4.5G services in five winter resorts as part of plans to deploy the technology enabling this service on the entire territory of the country by the autumn of 2018.
The new service offers 30% faster data rate of up to 150 Mbps using the Carrier Aggregation technology, Mobiltel said in a statement.
The new service will be available in the winter resorts of Bansko, Botovets, Pamporovo, Chepelare and Dobrinishte as well as in the SPA and wellness resorts of Velingrad, Sandanski, Sapareva Banya, Hisarya and Belchin.
In April 2016, Mobiltel officials demonstrated 4.5G network technology supporting 170 Mbps data rate.
In Bulgaria, Mobiltel competes with the local unit of Norway's Telenor and the mobile arm of telecom operator Vivacom.
