October 7 (SeeNews) - The operator of the subway system in the Bulgarian capital Sofia - Metropolitan, said on Monday that it has signed a contract with a tie-up led by South Korea-based companies for the purchase of platform edge doors, worth an estimated 17.9 million levs ($10.0 million/9.2 million euro).
The winning tie-up comprises South Korean companies Hanatek System and SKD Hi-Tec, as well as Bulgaria's Atco Trade, Metropolitan said in a notice.
According to registry agency data, the two South Korean companies hold stakes of 33.5% each, while Atco Trade controls 33%.
The contract was inked on September 27, according to the notice.
The tie-up submitted the only offer in the public procurement procedure for awarding the contract.
The first stage of the project envisages the installation of platform edge doors at two stations part of subway line 1, while the second stage includes a further 10 stations from both lines 1 and 2
