May 19 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian digital marketing company Metrica said on Wednesday that it opened a new logistics centre for warehouse management and e-commerce fulfilment near Sofia, which will service small and medium-sized enterprises in Bulgaria, Greece and Romania.
Metrica reallocated its logistics centre to Sofia-Bozhurishte Economic Zone, investing over 100,000 euro ($122,400) in the move, the company said in a statement.
The 1,900 sq m centre will double the digital marketing company's headcount. It has a storage capacity for over 2,000 pallets.
In 2020, Metrica doubled the number of processed orders in Bulgaria.
Metrica is 60%-owned by Romania's Mediapost Hit Mail, which in turn is part of French state-owned postal service operator La Poste.
Mediapost Hit Mail too has been expanding its capacity in the past years.
"We tripled our storage space in Romania in the last five years. We chose to expand the capacity of our warehouse in Romania to 12,000 sq m and to move to a new warehouse in Bulgaria as the logistic flow of e-commerce and promotional logistics in both geographical areas continues to grow rapidly. It is important for us to provide capacity in the bases in Bucharest and Sofia to meet customer demand," Marian Sheitan, executive director of Mediapost Hit Mail, said in the statement.
Mediapost Hit Mail, founded in Romania in 1997, established a subsidiary in Bulgaria in 2005. In 2015, the company acquired a majority stake in Metrica. The company's combined turnover from operations in Bulgaria and Romania exceeded 36 million euro last year, according to the statement.
